Marjorie (Marge) Chrustz
April 4th, 1937 – September 30th, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Marjorie (Marge) Chrustz on September 30th, 2025, at the Rose Garden Hospice surrounded by family.
Marjorie Mary Magdeline was born on April 4th, 1937, in Choiceland, Sk. She was the first-born child to Myrl and Dorothy Johnson. Marge met her handsome and charming husband while working at the Prince Albert Sanatorium. She married Bohdan (Bob) Chrustz on June 6th, 1959. They were married for 47 years before he passed away in 2006. Marge didn’t have children of her own but, she took extreme pleasure in spoiling many children throughout the years. Marge made and decorated beautiful birthday cakes (with coins inside!), the sugar cookies decorated for each holiday, the Christmas pudding, the shortbread cookies, the many desserts, and on and on.
Marge moved to Prince Albert and started working at the Prince Albert Sanatorium in 1956. When tuberculosis had nearly been eradicated and the building was to be closed, the Saskatchewan Government came up with the North Park Centre for the mentally challenged. Marge had had enough of the shift work and different working circumstances, that she gladly took a transfer to the Department of Highways in 1973. Marge retired from Department of Highways in 1987 when the government implemented an early retirement program. Retirement did not slow her down at all! She enjoyed her aquacise on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, her sanatorium lunches with the staff of yesteryear, her countless hours of volunteer work for the Prince Albert Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society, curling with her sister and good friends, growing a garden every spring and her own flowers from seeds, baking endless amounts of goodies for every occasion and somewhere in there always making sure she had time for all of the special people in her life. Marge and Bob lived on their slice of heaven / acreage since 1976 so, it was with heavy hearts that Marge moved to Points West Assisted Living in November 2022. Marge after being moved in, loved this transition and found some friends were also living there. Marge knew people everywhere. After a brief hospital stay in August 2023, Marge was moved to the Good Shepherd Villa. Once again Marge enjoyed this facility as she became friends with people easily and had a good friend from the Cancer Society move in on the same floor. Marge’s health was declining, and steps were taken to have Marge moved to a more equipped facility, the Rosthern Mennonite Care Home in June 2025. Marge was hospitalized in late July where the family was notified of the updated health status of palliative care for Marge. Marge was transferred to the beautiful facility of Rose Garden Hospice on Wednesday, September 24th. The family were able to visit her every day, the view from her window was beautiful and the staff were incredible. Marge passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, September 30th with her family by her side.
Marge is lovingly remembered by her best friend / sister and “handy to have” brother-in-law, Doris & Jim White; her special “take care of it” niece and “go to guy” Anita & Kurt Smith; great nephew Jared & Danielle Smith and their daughter “special little peanut” great, great niece Hailey Smith; chosen niece Janice (Glen) Pocha-Tait along with their two daughters Sarah Pocha-Tait and Stefani Pocha-Tait; niece Teresa (Neale) Lensen along with their children Matthew (Amanda Zaleschuk) Lensen, Ryan Lensen and Natalina Lensen; great niece Lorraine Weber and her children Victoria Weber, Ana Weber, and Sabrina Weber, great niece Kathryn Stewart, great nephew Jason (Robyn) Stewart and their daughter Julia Stewart; her brother Glen (Margaret) Johnson, nephew Derek Johnson and family, nephew Kurt Johnson and family; many Godchildren and special friends.

There are not enough words to fully express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Rose Garden Hospice. Especially to that of D’Chi, Lillian, and Jessica for the guidance, love and support you have extended to our family during the last week of Marge’s life. To the staff at the Rosthern Mennonite Care Home for caring after Marge with such warmth and kindness, ensuring her needs were being met gave us such comfort.
In lieu of tributes, donations in memory of Marge can be made to the Rose Garden Hospice.
