Marjorie Griffin, late of Prince Albert, SK passed away on June 8, 2015 in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 92 years. Marjorie Griffin was born in Manchester, England in April 1923 to Lavinia and Burt Giles. She immigrated to Canada in February 1924 at the age of 9 months and settled with her parents in Allan, Sask. In 1926 they moved to Saskatoon and then to Prince Albert in June 1926 when her father started working at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary. Marjorie attended Queen Mary School and graduated from PACI in 1941. She spent a year in Ottawa working for the department of Munitions and Supply. In 1942, she returned to Prince Albert and was employed with the North Star Lumber Company. She became subdivision clerk with the RCMP in 1944, being one of the first women to hold this position in Saskatchewan. In 1948 she married the love of her life, Charles Frederick Griffin and they were married for 65+ years. She was active in the Anglican Church; both St. Alban’s Cathedral and St. George’s Anglican Church. She was a 50 year member of the ACW and active with many clubs and causes. She also supported her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their numerous sporting, school and cultural activities. Marjorie was predeceased by her daughter Sandra, her husband Fred and many other significant friends and family members. She will be dearly missed by her children: David (Bonnie) Griffin of Paddockwood, SK, Faye Griffin of Langley, BC, Bill (Sharon) Griffin of Prince Albert, SK and Cheryl (James) Beck Of Ardrossin, AB; she also leaves 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Marjorie’s Memorial will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 – 2:00 pm, MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 130 9th St E, Prince Albert, SK with The Ven. Andrew Hoskin officiating.
