April 18, 1953 – July 3, 2016
It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Maretta (Trapp) Glessing announces her passing on July 3, 2016. She was laid to rest on July 7 in Wilkie, SK – Rev. Boyd Molder and Rev. Paula Foster presiding. Marion Maretta (Trapp) Glessing was born April 18, 1953 in Biggar, SK to Edith and Howard Trapp, the eldest of four children. Maretta was predeceased by her infant son, Chet; mother and father, Edith and Howard Trapp. She is survived by her adoring husband of 28 years, Kevin; children and grandchildren, Deon (Dail) deBussac and daughters Hadley and Bailey, Jody (Rose) deBussac and son, Griffin; and Mandy (Finn) Molder and sons Ty and Charlie. She leaves behind the love of her sisters Judy, Linda, Brenda, Trudy; and brothers Don, Glen, Brian and Steward and their families; aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. As young mother of two boys (Deon, Jody) she moved to Saskatoon and then to Prince Albert, SK where she welcomed another son (Chet) and eventually a daughter (Mandy). She provided for her young family, instilled the value of hard work and found joy in Prince Albert, SK working at CKBI Radio and the OK Economy. She found the love of her life, Kevin, and they married on August 8, 1987 in Leipzig, SK with her children at their side. She nurtured her love of gardening and living on the farm in Handel, SK. It wasn’t long before she couldn’t sit still and found community and purpose as the Manager of the Handel Co-op. After the sale of the family farm in 2008, she and Kevin built the home of their dreams in Wilkie, SK where they later retired. Despite her failing health, she went out of her way to make plans and celebrate the people in her life. She lived for summer camping trips, crafts with the five grandkids and Christmas at the ‘farm’. When the fight was too much, she surrounded herself with her family, with love in her heart and with love all around her. She will be forever cherished and forever missed. Breathe easy Mom, breathe easy! The family would like to thank Dr. Olfert and the nursing staff at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, 6200 for the tender care they provided in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association, 1231 – 8th Street East, Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5. Funeral Services provided by Grondin Funeral Services.
