Margaret Polly Harmon passed away peacefully November 3, 2014 at 93 years of age. Margaret was the third child of eight born to Hugh and Clarisse Shields.
Margaret married Floyd Harmon and became Step-mom to five children. During their lives together they welcomed four of their children into their hearts. Early in their marriage they farmed at St. Brieux and Harriville District until 1973 when they retired and moved to Pathlow.
Margaret loved cooking, knitting, playing cards, bingo and most importantly entertaining by welcoming family and friends in for a visit and always a good meal. Her laughter was contagious and you never left her place without a smile on your face and a full belly. Quality time spent with family and friends was her greatest gift to us. Margaret’s determination and love of life was evident as she went on to be a cancer survivor twice.
At the age of 60, Margaret’s life changed when Floyd passed away. At which time she moved into Caskey Place in Melfort, this became her home for the next 25 years where laughter filled the halls, and meals were prepared “just in case” someone would stop by.
In 2008, Margaret moved into Parkland Place where as always, she was quick to fit in, making sure to give everyone a good laugh and a helping hand.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Floyd, stepchildren Ruby, Rebecca, Loise, James, Leith, son Gerald (Gerry) Harmon, daughter Lorrae McCabe, grandson Karre McCabe, great grandson Blair McCutcheon, siblings Hazel, Vinton, Gertrude (Rachel), Jack, Robert, Nora and Cecil.
Margaret is survived by her children Lorne (Elizabeth) Harmon, Ellen (Lyle) Fidyk and Les Harmon, brother Walter Shields, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A Funeral Service for Margaret was held from Fedusiak Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dave MacPherson officiating on November 7, 2014. A family tribute was given by Tracy Hovland and Brandon Pederson. Lyle Fidyk and Pastor Dave MacPherson provided music ministry. Honorary Pallbearers “All who knew & loved Margaret” and Pallbearers were Brandon Pederson, Bryton Hovland, Wayne Harmon, Cameron Ethier, Lorne Sorenson, and Skylar Sorenson.
