Margaret Ottilia Courtney, late of Prince Albert and formerly of Emma Lake, SK, was born December 5, 1932 on the family farm near Lintlaw, SK and passed away with family at her bedside, August 10, 2012 in Prince Albert, SK. Margaret was predeceased by William (Bill), her husband of 60 years. Margaret is survived by three sons and their wives, five grandchildren and one great grandchild: Thomas and Carol, sons Kellan and Koehl; Ronald and Ann, son Shayn and Becky (Stohl), grandchild Blake and son, Tanner and Rachelle (McKay); Donald, daughter Cara. Margaret is also survived by three sisters; Marion Agrey, Darlene (Bob) Burgess and Gladys Koehl and two brothers; Frank (Gail) Koehl and Norman (Veryl) Koehl. Margaret was predeceased her parents Frank and Otillia (Steinke) Koehl and her sister Betty (Leo) Lefavre. Margaret married Bill in Prince Albert in 1952 and spent the next 16 years raising the three boys and working at various jobs. In 1968, with their three sons, Margaret and Bill moved to Emma Lake where they owned and operated the Sunnyside Market Store. Over the years they met many great people and had some wonderful times. Margaret and Bill had the honour of being named Lakeland Citizens of the Year in 2003. They retired from the store in 2003 and lived at Emma Lake, Sunnyside Beach until 2011. Margaret’s love of genealogy and desire to document the family trees took her to many small towns across western Canada in search of birth, marriage and deceased records. Margaret always had the coffee pot on, a plate of cookies on the table and was ready to welcome everyone who dropped by. Margaret moved into Prince Albert in 2011 after Bill’s death. It is Margaret’s wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Christopher/Emma Lakeland Lions Club to carry on their good work. As per Margaret’s wishes, a Graveside Service will be held on Friday August 17, 2012 at 11:00 am at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens, in the Last Supper Section, Prince Albert, SK. Lunch to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall.
