It is with a heavy heart that the family of Margaret Fiszterer announces her passing on Monday, December 28, 2015, at the age of 76 years. She will be fondly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Frank, and her children, Frances, Emily, Victoria and Frank. She will also be missed by her 9 grandchildren, Melissa, Johnathan, Erin, Desiree, Petra, Benedict, Elijah, Noah and Robyn as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Margaret was born on Monday, January 2, 1939, in Hungary, where she worked as a teenager growing and selling floral arrangements to help support her family. Soon after, she married her childhood friend, Frank Fiszterer, and they began their perilous journey as refugees to Canada while fleeing the Russian invasion of Hungary. After several years the couple eventually settled in the Prince Albert area and for many years the family lived on a small farm off White Star Road. Margaret loved gardening and had an exceptional green thumb, providing food and preserves for her family, raising chickens, ducks and goats, and was just generally a really excellent mother to her children and a great housewife. In later years, Margaret and her family moved into the city of Prince Albert, eventually helping to look after and care for some of her grandchildren, for which she was and is greatly appreciated for to this day. In 2009, Margaret was beset by a debilitating illness and was admitted to the Herb Bassett Care Home a few years later. We would like to thank Dr. Elmer and the staff of Herb Bassett Home for the excellent care. We know Mom is now with God and free from all suffering. We love and miss you, Mom. In memory of Margaret Fiszterer, we would like to encourage all Canadians to help any and all refugees in need, for we are all human beings, and to remember that we are all here to help each other equally using the unique talents we possess, for the benefit of all. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2016, at River Park Memorial Chapel, Margaret Ferchuk officiating. Any and all that knew Margaret, her husband Frank, or the family, would be most warmly appreciated for their attendance. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to River Park Memorial Chapel, 306-764-2727, Don Moriarty, Funeral Director.
