Marcel Arthur Thompson
July 12, 1920 ~ January 10, 2021

Marcel was born in southern Saskatchewan on July 12, 1920, to Arthur and Bessie (Freda) (nee Mathiews) Thompson.

Marcel was raised on a homestead near Christopher Lake, SK with his six brothers and one sister. He attended school there in between all the farm chores that are required as a son of a farmer. After Marcel completed grade eight, he went to work at various jobs such as driving bus, truck, taxi and any other employment he could find. He applied to work for Thorpe Brothers and worked there for 35 years until his retirement.

On August 9, 1943, he was united in marriage to Lillian (nee Boyle). They raised eight children on an acreage in Nordale. Marcel built a skating rink every fall and provided extra skates for any kid that came by for a skate. In spring and summer, he would be out plowing gardens for the neighbors or helping wherever help was needed.

Marcel will be sadly missed by his wife Lillian; his children: Arthur (Marlene) Thompson, Fay LeChasseur, Karen (Garry) Johnston, Patrick (Rita) Thompson, Ann (Gus) Praud, Philip (Lori) Thompson, Shawn (Pascale) Thompson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Keith Thompson; brothers-in-law Blake Jones, Ed (Helen) Boyle; sisters-in-law Edith Thompson and Lea Boyle.

Marcel was predeceased by a newborn son, Robert Keith Thompson; daughter Lorraine Thompson; parents Arthur and Freda Thompson; brothers: Ted Thompson, Allan (Nettie) Thompson, George (Doris) Thompson, Eric (Marge) Thompson, Donald Thompson; sister Stella; parents-in-law Arthur and Marie Boyle; brothers-in-law: Robert (Louise) Boyle, George Boyle, Charles Boyle; sisters-in-law Florence (Fred) Harvey, Isobel Boyle, Christine Boyle, Pat (Don) Reeve; parents-in-law Arthur and Marie Boyle.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Nordale Hall- 1306-6 Avenue North West, Prince Albert, SK to celebrate the lives of both Mom and Dad together.
