Posted Oct 1, 2018 | 6:40 PM
Marcel Jean Mourot of Emma Lake passed away September 29, 2018, at Victoria Hospital with the love of his life – his wife Lynne – at his side. Marcel had fought a short, but courageous battle with cancer.
Marcel was born to Alphonse Francois and Celina (Caron) Mourot on December 17, 1936, at the family farm at White Star, SK. He was the 8th of 10 children. Marcel left home at an early age to work in Alberta, Ontario and various locations in Saskatchewan. It was while working for Parks Canada at Prince Albert National Park that he met Lynne Harrison in 1959. They were married Dec. 22, 1962, and made their home in Prince Albert, where Marcel eventually worked for almost 25 years at the Prince Albert Foundry (later renamed AIM Supply).
Marcel enjoyed spending time at his cabin at Emma Lake. He and Lynne moved there permanently in 2012. He also enjoyed spending time travelling, especially to his “second home” in Rincon de Guayabitos, Mexico, where he spent part of every winter since 1984.
Marcel is greatly missed and lovingly remembered by: his wife: Lynne; his daughter: Kerri (Brian Primeau), and her son: Kody; his son: Kevin (Michelle) and their children: Jordyne and Jesse; his brothers: Alex, Charlie (Inez), Louis, and Henri (Linda); his sister: Henriette (Lionel); his sister-in-law: Jennie Mourot; his brother-in-law: Jim (Bonnie) Harrison; his sister-in-law: MaryLou (Norman) Onyskevitch; as well as several nieces and nephews and his special fur babies: Tita and Sola.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Christopher Lake Legion Hall on Saturday, October 6 at 2 pm. Please wear something that reminds you of Marcel.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Victoria Hospital for the care they gave Marcel. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Ardell and to Dr. Banoub, for their compassionate care of Marcel in his final days.
