April 16, 1944 – September 12, 2010
It is with great sadness that the family of Majella Lapierre announces her sudden passing on Sunday, September 12th, 2010. Majella is survived by her husband, Leo; son, Norman, son, Colin (Camille) and grandchildren Joëlle and Cézanne; son, Paul (Alanne) and grandchildren Simone and Adrien; all of her siblings, Yvette (Jean), Marcelle (CJ), Albert (Terry), Carmen, Lorenzo (Linda), and Eddy (Mel) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Majella was predeceased by her parents, Edouard and Bernadette Ethier and her grandson, Alec Lapierre.
Majella (née Ethier) was born April 16th, 1944 in Bellevue, SK, the fifth child of Edouard and Bernadette Ethier. She received most of her education in St Isidore de Bellevue with a couple years of high school at the Academy Presentation of Mary. She married Leo Lapierre on June 6th, 1966 in Prince Albert at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. After their marriage, they lived in Gravelbourg, Kindersley, and Prince Albert for 8 years where 2 of their sons were born. They moved to Saskatoon in 1977 where they welcomed their third son.
Majella loved her home in the city but also loved her second home at Christopher Lake. She loved the fresh air, the sun, floating on her chair in the water and coffee on the deck. The cabin was always open to company and Majella took pride in providing plenty of homemade food and drink. She took pleasure in the simple things, from baking her delicious loaves of bread, to tending to her potted garden. She had a no-nonsense attitude about life and could be counted on for a straight and honest answer. She accepted anyone from any walk of life. Her greatest concern was that her special needs son Norman would be well taken care of and so was actively involved in fighting for his best welfare. She instilled compassion and honesty in her boys. She will be greatly missed, loved by many.
Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010 with Mr. Brian Clarke officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 with celebrant Bishop Blaise Morand. Both services will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 – 4th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
