Magela “Madge” Louisette Marie Vaughan was born October 3, 1951 in Rosthern, SK and passed away September 28, 2024, at Mont St. Joseph Home, Prince Albert, SK, at the age of 72 years. Madge was born to Victor and Lena (née Beaulieu) Folliet, older sister, Lucille (Peter) Nejmeldeen and younger brother Albert (Caroline) Folliet.
Mom grew up in Duck Lake, SK. She worked in restaurants, played softball, did ceramics and bowled, for which she won many trophies. She married Reginald Vaughan on October 9, 1970. They had two daughters, Lee-Ann (Jason) Mathers and Amanda Vaughan.
Mom and Dad moved to Prince Albert, SK. She wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, so she hosted boarders. She was busy with running us around to extracurricular activities, as well as carpooling us to school. Somehow, she made time to sell Avon and us girls loved the samples.
Mom and Dad would become managers and caretakers of several apartment complexes. Mom lived and worked at Hilltop Towers for 16 years. During this time, they also purchased a trailer and later a cabin at Sunny Side, Emma Lake, SK, after renting cabins at different lakes. We went on lots of vacations in Canada and in the U.S.
Mom was an excellent cake decorator, we always had beautiful birthdays. I was fortunate enough to have Mom decorate some cakes for her grandchildren, the children of Lee-Ann (Jason) Mathers: Kira (Zach) Wiebe, and Conner Mathers.
Mom loved reading and watching her crime and detective movies in her down time. She was involved with the School Council and volunteering. In addition, Mom was recognized by the Health Board for her many years helping with flu clinics.
Mom and Dad also bought a house in Northside, SK, where Dad currently resides with their beloved cat, Gypsy.
Madge is survived by her husband, Reginald Vaughan; daughters, Lee-Ann (Jason) Mathers and Amanda Vaughan; grandchildren, Kira (Zach) Wiebe and Conner Mathers; brother, Albert (Caroline) Folliet; sister, Lucille (Peter) Nejmeldeen; nieces and nephews, Shannon, Koren, Jason, Dale, Laurie, Nicole and their families; Calvin, Darlene, Stacey, Wanda, Corey, Jerel, Marc, Jody; Robyn, Todd and their families; her sister-in-law, Carol Vaughan.
