Magdaleine St. Arnaud
I took the road less travelled, but each must find their own….
Magdaleine (Maggie) was born on June 8th, 1931 in the Avebury School District #4198, to Steve & Amalia (nee Yezovitsky) Matula. At the age of 5 she began her Education at a country school near her home and attended there to grade 10, with grades 11 & 12 being taken in Leask. Following her graduation in 1949 she enrolled at the Holy Family School of Nursing from which she graduated in 1952. Following her graduation, Maggie worked for the Humphries Medical Clinic for 5 years.
Following her marriage to Ferd St. Arnaud, they moved to Edmonton. Her career in the medical profession continued for many years until such time opportunities of various proportions arose. A decision to leave the medical profession was made. In the years to follow, Maggie owned and operated 2 gift shops in Edmonton and together with her husband developed 3 rural properties west of Edmonton in addition to owning and operating a dry cleaning business. In the midst of all that activity,Maggie boarded a Greyhound bus faithfully every month for 26 years to return to Saskatchewan for one week durations to care for her parents.
In 1994 the decision was made to sell their business and retire to a home they had constructed at Neis’s Beach. Due to family illness and related circumstance, the decision was made to sell their home at Neis’s Beach and move to Prince Albert to better care for those concerned. Her caring and compassionate nature was evident throughout her life. Magdaleine passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2023 in Prince Albert, SK.
Maggie was pre-deceased by an infant daughter at birth, Lynda Jeanne, her husband Ferd, her parents Steve & Amalia Matula, and her sister Mary Schira. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Prayer Services will be held at the Beau “Lac” Funeral Home Chapel, 300B 300 Marquis Rd W, Prince Albert, Sk on January 12th, 2023 at 7:00pm.
The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St Michael Parish, 1505 13 St W, Prince Albert, SK on Friday, January 13th, 2023 at 2:00pm. Magdaleine will be laid to rest beside her husband at South Hill Cemetery, Prince Albert following the Funeral Mass.
