Madeline Mary Custer was born on Wednesday, March 22, 1933, in Jan Lake, SK, and passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016, in Pelican Narrows, SK, at the age of 83 years. Madeline is survived by her loving family, her sons, Jimmy (Mary-Ann) Custer, George J. Custer, Larry (Doris) Custer, and Ernest (Miriam) Custer, her daughters, Diane Ballantyne, Rose (Mervin) Ballantyne, Frances (Keith) McCallum, Bernice (Walter) Custer, Helen (Terry) Morin, and Clara Custer, her sisters, Angelique Ray and Yvonne Fourhorns, her brothers, Philip Merasty, Mack Merasty, and Tracey Merasty, her adopted children, Norma Cook, Tarmaine Custer, Jeremy Custer, Sonya Ballantyne, Allison Linklater, and Pat John Charles, her special friends, Annie Sewap, Gloria Nataweyes, Frances Linklater, Maggie Highway, Marie Nataweyes, and Madeline Linklater, her sisters-in-law, Minnie Sewap and Veronique Merasty, and the Ballantyne, Roberts, Charles, and McKenzie families, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, numerous relatives in Stanley Mission, numerous relatives in Sandy Bay, and all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her husband, John Paul Custer, her parents, Moise Merasty and Mary Jane Linklater, her son (in infancy), Larry Custer, her sisters, Bertha Ballantyne and Angelique Ballantyne, her brother, Angus Sewap, her in-laws, Suzanne Custer, Eli Custer, and Louie Custer, and her grandchildren, Lester (in infancy), Stanley Custer, Chris Custer, Harry John Custer, Kim Custer, Cherish Custer (chapan), and Avrin Custer. There will be a prayer service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at River Park Memorial Chapel in Prince Albert, SK, Margaret Ferchuk officiating. A wake service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at the home of Larry Custer. Madeline’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church in Pelican Narrows, SK, Father Joseph officiating. Interment to follow at Moise Bear Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Memorial Gardens in Prince Albert, SK, 306-764-2727, Paula Hanson, Funeral Director.
