It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynn Karen Herzog, on March 31st, 2025, in Edmonton, AB at the age of 68 years.
A beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, Lynn brought warmth, kindness, and laughter to every life she touched. She was the proud mother of three children and the grandmother of eight, each of whom brought her joy and pride.
Lynn was born on June 15, 1956, in Clinton, Ontario to Gerry and Carmen Tienkamp. Her sister Velvet came along 6 years later in July of 1962 and their family of 4 moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1967.
Growing up, Lynn spent summers with relatives in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and decided to finish her high school education there. Shortly thereafter, Lynn met and married Verdy Herzog. They raised their 3 children, Heidi, Chad, and Allyce in Prince Albert where they enjoyed family time and time at the northern lakes. Lynn and Verdy parted ways in the late 90’s.
Lynn spent most of her career at Prince Albert Housing Authority. She enjoyed her time there and made many lifelong friends. While living in Alberta, Lynn worked for Contour Construction, which held a special place in her heart for years after she moved back to Saskatchewan.
In Lynn’s later years she lived in both Alberta and Saskatchewan, making many friends along the way. She was known for her nimble hands and generous heart. She spent countless hours sewing, crocheting, and baking, often sharing her creations with family, friends, and neighbors. Whether it was a homemade pie fresh from the oven or a handmade blanket for a new baby, her love was stitched into everything she made.
She was very proud of her 3 children and grandchildren and would make “Grandma Brag Books” so she could show everyone the latest pictures of her grandchildren. Lynn was always a grandmotherly figure to other children too, often gifting them with something special she had made for them.
Lynn had a heart of gold. Her laughter was contagious, her sense of humor sharp and ever-present, even in difficult times. She called everyone she met “Hon” whether she knew you for years or you were just introduced to her. Many people have a special place in their hearts for Lynn.
Lynn had nephews, nieces, long time relatives and friends that will miss her smile, laughter, and care. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. Though she may be gone, her spirit lives on in every recipe passed down, every stitch woven with love, and every memory shared by those lucky enough to know her.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Heidi Carl (Clint Moroz), Rayna and Jaylynn; Chad (Natalie) Herzog, Brooklyn and Jaxon; Allyce (John) Domianczuk, Avery, Ella, Quinn and Fahryn; her father, Gerry Tienkamp (Birgit Gates); her sister, Velvet (Larry) Aquilon, Darren and Landen (Christine) Aquilon, Aubrey; numerous members of the Herzog family.
Lynn is predeceased by her mother, Carmen Tienkamp and many other relatives fondly remembered.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 25th St. East, Prince Albert, SK.
