Lynn Louise Guard
February 25, 1952 – April 24, 2023

It is with saddened hearts that the family of Lynn Guard announce her sudden passing on April 24th at the age of 71.

Lynn was born in Prince Albert, SK at the Holy Family Hospital to her parents Marie Rose and Raymond Lajeunesse. Lynn was raised on a farm near Debden, SK with her eight siblings, four sisters, and four brothers.

Lynn attended grade school in Debden and then went on to complete high school at “The Academy Presentation of Mary.”

Upon graduation, Lynn started her career working for the Department of Natural Resources. She went on to work in several different departments within the Government of Saskatchewan in various administrative roles for a total of 38 years.

Shortly after beginning her career, sometime in her 20’s, Lynn met Rod, and they married in 1976. Together they had two boys, Kelly and Danny.

Lynn and Rod enjoyed a few trips as a couple, but most of all enjoyed following their boys to their sports and activities. Lynn was proud of her boys and enjoyed watching them excel in the sports she once also played and loved.

Lynn was part of a women’s softball team in Prince Albert, “The Browne Motors’ Dusters” that won the Western Canadian Championship in 1978. The Western Canadian Championship was a highlight for Lynn as she was one of the original seven ladies that were with the team from the time of their formation. Lynn and the team were inducted into the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.

Lynn’s love for sports continued past the days of her sons’ involvement. She was a big fan of watching hockey and ball on TV, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. Lynn kept close stats on her teams and often made bets with some of her old coworkers. Lynn would frequently end her messages to family and friends with “Go Leafs and Jays, or Go Raiders Go.”

Lynn was thrilled to see her two oldest grandchildren begin playing sports, Evelyn following in grandma’s footsteps as a little ball player, and Briar with his love for hockey.

Lynn will be missed by her oldest son Kelly, his wife Jenelle, and their children Briar & Finley; and her youngest son Danny, his spouse Chelsey, and their children Evelyn and Eastyn.

She will also be missed by her siblings, Gilles (Eugenie) Lajeunesse, Jaqueline (Marc) Bonneau, Sister Diane Lajeunesse, Lucille (Bob) Bonin, Claude (Marlene) Lajeunesse, Paul (Laurel) Lajeunesse, and Lois (Lyle) Wallin; her many nieces and nephews, as well as her coworkers and past teammates and friends.

Lynn was predeceased by her husband Rodney Guard, her parents Marie Rose and Raymond Lajeunesse, her brother Marcel Lajeunesse, and her parents-in-law Herb and Laura Guard.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date with close family and friends.

Seeing as the Toronto Maple Leafs made the next round of playoffs, Lynn’s family would like to end her obituary in true Lynn fashion…
