With shattered hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife of almost 70 years, mom, mama, GG and friend on May 19, 2026. She was surrounded by her loved ones after a very brief battle with cancer.
Mom was born October 31, 1934 to Svend and Mabel (Berg) Holt, an only child. Her dad immigrated from Norway and mom’s heritage was very dear to her, she spoke her first language of Norwegian with anyone she could.
Mom worked hard on the farm along side dad, tending to animals, trucking, driving tractor, running for parts, cooking full course meals delivered to the field, all the while raising her family. No one left her house hungry. Later on babysitting grandchildren being their loyal sports fan and attending all their special events. Until she was 87, mom and dad lived on the farm where she grew a large garden and a beautiful manicured yard with several flower beds. Mom still had the mind of a woman decades younger than her.
Mom was a loyal follower of God, teaching Sunday School, leading and singing in choirs and countless bible studies. Mom and her friends sewed approximately 3000 quilts for Lutheran World Relief, each of us are bless to have one, including her newest great grandson she made just a few months ago.
Mom is survived by her husband Chester, their children; Brian (Sharon) their children Hailey (Shawn) Logan and Theo, Megan (Jessie), Quentin (Christine) Allyson and Hayes; Kathy (Todd) their children Zach (Tyra) Adalynn, Charlotte and Holden, Derek (Brook) Rhyder and Blayre, Brittney; Melanie (Lyle) their children Ryan and Scott; Chris (Jenny) their children Dylan (Logan), Austin (Vinny) and Rhett.
She is predeceased by her young son Mark, her parents Svend and Mabel, parents in law Theodore and Thelma, a special uncle Selmer Berg and his wife Serena.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
