We are saddened to announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Lucien passed away peacefully on May 30, 2014 after a brief battle with leukemia at 81 years of age. He was born in Prince Albert, SK on October 14, 1932, to Pierre and Elsie Boyer. The eldest of three children, he was raised on the family farm near Hoey, SK. He attended Oxford and Hoey schools. Lucien farmed with his father for many years, eventually taking over the mixed farming operation. He married Genevieve Pelletier in 1960. Together they raised three children. They retired in 2001, moving to Prince Albert, SK. Lucien enjoyed farming and was very interested in farm-related activities long after he retired. He enjoyed crop tours, watching the changing seasons, cottage life, listening to old-time music, travelling, and the company of family and friends. Lucien is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Genevieve; his three children: Jocelyne (Daniel) Thibault of Tway, SK and their children Carmen (Dwane) Burke and great-grandson Nate Burke, Andrew (Kelsey) Thibault, and Brian Thibault; Gisele Boyer of Saskatoon,SK; Greg Boyer of Birch Hills, SK and his daughter Payton Boyer; his sister Claire (Rolland) Gaudet of Winnipeg, MB; his brother-in-law Gilles (Lucille) Gaudet of Bellevue, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lucien was predeceased by his parents Pierre and Elsie (Tournier) Boyer; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Ernest and Jeanne (Guigon) Pelletier and his sister Elaine (Boyer) Gaudet. The family wishes to thank Dr. Gordon Surkan and staff at Victoria Hospital for providing excellent care and support during his illness, as well as the clergy and pastoral care team. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Celebrant Reverend Father Roque Concepcion. Private Family Interment of ashes will take place at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Lucien may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9.
