It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Louise Gadzella at age 84 in Samaritan Place, Saskatoon, SK on Friday, March 30, 2012 with family at her side. She is survived by her son, Gerard (Cathy) and grandchildren, Ehren, Timothy and Kathryn of Saskatoon; daughters, Theresa Gadzella and Elizabeth Gadzella of Saskatoon, and Margaret Nontell (Terry) of Sylvania; and grandchildren, Ross and Jacob Gadzella and Benjamin Welsh (Cherie and Mark Welsh) of Saskatoon; brothers, Abe Fior and Mario Fior of Saskatoon; sister, Lena Walshe of California; as well as the many nieces, nephews, cousins and god-children. She was predeceased by her husband, James in 2005, her son, Gregory in 1994, her sister, Emma (Jim) Spencer and parents, Corrado and Santina Fior. Mom was born at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK on June 22, 1927. Her family moved to Bowsman, Manitoba for a couple of years, returning to Saskatoon in 1931. She attended St. Mary’s School for grades one to eight. With the tuition she was awarded for high marks in Grade Eight, she attended Sion Academy for Girls in Grade Nine. She attended Bedford Road Collegiate in Grade Ten. When her father took ill, she quit school to work full time to help support her family. She started at McLean’s General Store in June 1943 (after school). In 1945 she worked at Belgian’s Dry Cleaners. In April of 1946 she started at Hewgill’s Drug Store, which she quite enjoyed and continued there until she was married in 1958 and moved to Blaine Lake, SK. During her time in Saskatoon and Blaine Lake she was a devote wife, mother and Catholic, playing a very active role in St. Mary’s parish and CWL in Saskatoon and St Andrew’s parish and CWL in Blaine Lake. She extended her Christian ways, heart and hands to all of those around her. All who knew her were blessed with her laugh, smile and determination and will always remember her bountiful gardens and flowers, a table covered in good food and family around it. A Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 4:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church in Saskatoon, SK. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church in Blaine Lake, SK.
