Louis William Receveur

Louis William Receveur passed away quietly on Thursday, October 21st, 2010 at the age of 76 years. Louis was born on July 3, 1934 in Polworth, SK and attended school in Polworth, Duck Lake, Notre Dame and graduated from Debden High School. Louis moved to Prince Albert in 1953. He married Shirley McLean in 1958 and had four children and fifteen grandchildren Patti (Blair) DesJardine and children Joel and Scott from Calgary, Jim (Lise) Receveur and children Jacob and Celine from Denmark, Carol (Luke) Gyoerick and children Lisa, Daniel and Lindsy, Cody, Michelle, Trista, Joshua, Reven and Ashley from Prince Albert and David Receveur and children Dawson, Zach, Noah, Mathew and friend Faith from Calgary. Louis was a dynamic salesman and leader. He began working in retail sales before entering the real estate business. He opened Our Town Reality in 1955 which later became the very successful United Agencies. He tenured time as the President of both the Prince Albert and Saskatchewan Real Estate Boards and served as Governor of the Real Estate Institutes of Canada. He also sat on the Board of Directors for the International Real Estate Institute. Louis has been a member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 1965 receiving his AACI and P.App. He continued to work, teach and mentor in sales and appraising well into his retirement. He was a member of the Prince Albert Chamber of Commerce, President of the Prince Albert Optimist Club and a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. Louis was a singer, a poet, a die-hard Roughrider and Raider fan, holding the same season ticket seats at Art Hauser Arena for 39 years. He loved to travel but his favorite place was on the deck of his cabin or in his boat fishing on Emma Lake. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley, children, grandchildren, siblings Beulah Receveur, Terrence (Yvette), Doris Winnie and Jerry (Doreen); dear friends Garnie and Evelyn Schai as well as many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Chet and Malee Receveur, in-laws James and Rita McLean; brother Muril; brother-in-law Robert Winnie and granddaughter Meagan. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 25 from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church – 260-25th Street East by Father Matthew Nguyen. Interment will take place in the Garden of Christus, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
