LOUIS ETHIER
October 5, 1934 – September 2, 2016
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Louis Ethier. Louis was born to Emilien and Ena on their farm near St. Louis, SK. Louis farmed all his life as well as working as an electrician during the off season. He was an active member of the community volunteering, canvassing and entertaining in senior residences. He received his Life Master’s in bridge and was a member of the Prince Albert Bridge Club, Prince Albert Kaiser Club and the Prince Albert Heritage Centre. With eight siblings, large extended family and innumerable friends, Louis had the opportunity in the past few months to relive all the stories from his youth to present day – he said he had an amazing life. An amazing life for an amazing man; Louis was kind, loving and selfless and made anyone he met feel they were important. There is no one who knows him that says anything other than that he was a great man. Louis had many passions in his life, the first being his loving wife Anne Ethier who passed away on March 2, 2016. Most of his passions included Anne in some form or other, whether it was celebrating and entertaining friends and family, playing bridge or Kaiser, curling, or travelling the globe. You can’t mention passions without mentioning music; whether Louis was playing his violin or dancing with his loving wife, music was an integral part of who he was. No family function was complete until Louis played his violin. Louis is survived by: his children Jean Ryan, Jim (Pilar) Smith, Jackie (Lionel) Vandale; his siblings Robert (Fern) Ethier, Joseph (Anne Marie) Ethier, Lionel Ethier, Helene Doderai (Bronald Siwak), Simone (Jean) LeBlanc, Michel (Audrey) Ethier; his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild; his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his wife Anne Ethier; his parents Emilien and Ena (nee Comeau) Ethier; his sister Elizabeth LeBlanc; his brother Maurice Ethier. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, September 12, 2016, from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Prince Albert, SK., with lunch to follow. Father Roque Concepcion will officiate. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 1 2217 Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK S7L 6A8. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to River Park Memorial Chapel, 306 764-2727, Colette Harnett, Funeral Director.
