Lorraine Louisa Gareau

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a dear wife, mother and grandmother Lorraine Louisa Gareau (nee Williams) of Domremy Sk at St. Paul’s Hospital. She passed peacefully surrounded by 30 members of her family on October 3, 2023, just 13 days shy of her 79th birthday. Lorraine was born in Prince Albert SK, at Holy Family Hospital on October 16th, 1944 to Lee and Adrienne Williams (nee Boucher) of St. Louis Sk. Lorraine attended the early years of schooling at the convent in St Louis. It was there at the age of 7 where she would first meet her future husband, Gilles Gareau, who was also attending school there. Lorraine married Gilles Gareau at the Roman Catholic Church in St. Louis on August 7th, 1963. In November of 1964, they welcomed the first of their 5 children. Lorraine worked at the Bank of Montreal in Domremy until they moved to Thompson MB in the summer of 1970. They moved back to Domremy in the summer of 1972 and bought the Domremy Hotel. They owned the hotel until 1995 and she resided in Domremy for the rest of her life. Lorraine leaves to mourn her passing, her loving husband of 60 years, Gilles, her children Ben (Jacqueline), Lee & Brett, great grand daughter Peyton; Ken (Celeste), Davin, Armand & Austin; Roger (Wanda), Kaitlin & Wyatt; Colette (Micheal) Georget, Jessie & Billy, great grandson Remy; Kevin (Lisa), Shae Lynn, Erika & Cody; her brothers Edward (Linda) Williams, Maurice (Maryse) Williams; her brothers and sisters in law, Alice, Yvette, Majella (Robert), Arsene (Fern), Aubert, Alfred Wandler, Cyril (Rose); and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Lorraine was predeceased by her granddaughter Rebecca Georget, her parents Lee & Adrienne Williams, her sister Simone (Ronald Lefrançois), her brothers and sisters in law Real, Remi, Leo Gareau and Emile (in infancy), Alec Walker & Sylvette Wandler.
The Prayer Vigil will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Both Services will be held at the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church in Domremy with Rev. Phong Tran and Rev. Michael Fahlman officiating. Interment will follow at the Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Donations on memory of Lorraine may be directed to the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic parish.
