January 19,1949 – October 22, 2025
Lorne Wayne Szeman, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on October 22nd, 2025, in Saskatoon, SK, at the age of 76.
Born January 19th, 1949, in Lestock SK, Lorne was the son of Frank and Rose Szeman. He grew up on the farm with his six siblings. Lorne moved to Prince Albert in his early years where he became a firefighter for the Prince Albert Fire Dept. He met his wife, Judy, and they soon became inseparable. They married April 10th, 1982, and had two children, Becky and Curtis.
Lorne dedicated many years of his life to serving as a firefighter, where his courage, kindness, and sense of camaraderie built lifelong friendships. His selflessness and devotion to his community were matched only by his unwavering love for his family.
He found joy in the simple and meaningful things—visiting the family farm in Lestock, playing cards, listening to country music, chatting about anything sports related and discussing current events. He was a fantastic cook and enjoyed whipping up various Hungarian recipes. His love for The Toronto Blue Jays was something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on them that will never fade.
He will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome around his table.
Lorne is survived by his children Becky and Curtis, grandchildren Quinn Millar, Nova Millar and Jaxson Szeman as well as his sister Rosemarie (John) Treso, brothers Louis (Irene) Szeman, Johnny (Kathleen) Szeman, and Frankie (Jyl) Szeman. He was predeceased in death by his wife, Judy Szeman, father, Frank Szeman, mother, Rose Szeman, sisters Elisie (Fred) Brown and Margaret (Joe) Bulka.
A graveside gathering will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon on Friday, November 21st at 3pm.
