Lorna Oreane (Giles) POLLOCK
1926 – 2016
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lorna just before midnight Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Herb Bassett Nursing Home. Mom was born April 16, 1926 at Red Deer Hill to Shirley Paul and Ida Catherine Giles. In 1939 the family moved to PA where Mom met and married her loving husband of 65 years in 1946 to John William Pollock. Lorna was always a loving and caring person who would help all in need. She loved little ones. She was a very dedicated member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and gave herself tirelessly to serving luncheons, banquets, funerals and fund-raisers. She was honoured to be given a Life-Time Membership for her services. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Pat Lynch of PA; daughter-in-law Faye (Hogan) Pollock of Harris; brother-in-law Chester Beddome of Saskatoon; sister Leigh (Mike Matthews) of Ontario; grandchildren Blaine Lynch, Robyn (Audra) Lynch, Chelsy Lynch (David Neubuhr), Cathy (Bret) Mastel, Chris Pollock and Ashley Pollock; great grandchildren Quinn (Young) Lynch, Jesse Lynch/Neubuhr, Claire Lynch, Danielle and Sarah Mastel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lorna was predeceased by her husband John in 2001; her son William Forrest in 1989; her parents and parents-in-law; as well as step mother Mary (Brandrick) Giles; brothers Ward, Alfred, Eldon and Norval; sister Shirley (Obert and baby Robyn Senum); sisters-in-law Wilma Beddome, Elsie Giles; sisters and brothers-in-law Doris and Tom Bailey and Mary and Glenn McMurdo. May you rest in peace. We love you! A most heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the Herb Bassett (Paradise Path) and all directors, also Dr. Rob Ardel, Dr. Moodliar and the Nurses in Eemergeny and on 5th Floor at the Vic Hospital for the compassion and care you gave Mom. If flowers grow in heaven
God pick a bunch for me
Then place them in my Mother’s arms
And tell her they’re from me
Tell her that I love her and miss her
And when she turns to smile
Place a kiss on her cheek and hold her for a while.
MOM – Grief is the price you pay for love-I LOVE YOU.
