Lorna Jean Nordlund
(June 21, 1919 – August 23, 2011)
We are so sad to have lost our blessed beloved Lorna Jean. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. Her boundless love, kindness and thoughtfulness surrounded her family and drew them close to her for 92 years.
She was born June 21, 1919 to Annie and Frank Berry, pioneers in Waterfield, Saskatchewan. She grew up there on a farm with her four sisters: Joan, Eunice, Evelyn and Mable who remained the best of friends all their lives. She married her much loved partner of 63 years Hough Nordlund and raised their family Richard (Joyce), Linda (Don Berton), Avis Marion (died in infancy), Shirley and Cathee in Prince Albert. They recently moved to Saskatoon to be near family.
She was a kind, gentle woman who dedicated her life to her family. All of our homes are filled with her beautiful handwork made with tender love…Crocheted afghans, patchwork quilts and blankets, knitted sweaters, mitts and when her eyesight failed, miles of scarves. Christmas brought tins full of cookies. She never missed a birthday or anniversary. She cherished her five Grandchildren, Jesse and Scott Redl, Kimberly (Robert Kindzierski), Ryland and Alexa Berton. She was greatly loved by them and always remained close and a part of their lives. Her two great grandchildren Evan and William Kindzierski were her newest treasures. Her good friend Joan Stieb (Prince Albert) brought much joy to their lives.
She is survived by one sister Evelyn Ballard (Newmarket) and all of the immediate family. She was truly an angel and will be loved and missed always.
Memorial service to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to CNIB, 1705 McKercher Drive, Saskatoon, Sask. S7H 5N6.
Arrangements are in care of MARTENS WARMAN FUNERAL HOME (934-4888).
