It is with profound sadness that we announce after a long and courageous journey with cancer, the passing of Lorette Marie LeGatt on August 9, 2014 at St. Paul’s Palliative Care Unit surrounded by family. She will be forever remembered by her father, Joseph LeGatt; her brothers, the Most Reverend Albert LeGatt and Arthur (Cara) LeGatt; her sisters Lucille (Barry) Matisz, Irene (Tom Waiser) LeGatt and Valerie (Randy) Stone; her nieces and nephews, Jeannine, Rachelle and Brett Matisz; Alicia and Jeremy Stone; Nathan and Danielle LeGatt; Christopher (Ashley) Waiser and great-nieces Nevaeh and Peyton Waiser, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her mother Emma (Creurer) LeGatt, her brother Marcel, her grandparents and beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. Lorette was born in Melfort, SK and raised on the family farm at Pathlow, SK, receiving her schooling at St. Brieux, SK. After high school, she undertook studies in a variety of fields, obtaining both a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and Bachelor of Education degree. She taught in Spiritwood and Nipawin. After being diagnosed with cancer for the second time, she moved to Saskatoon to be closer to family and treatments. A very faith-filled person, Lorette’s passions included family, church, gardening, baking, needlework, decorating, Christmas and of course her cats. She loved nothing more than sending time with family and friends, working in her flower gardens and decorating her house for the seasons. We thank her for always being there for us even through all her pain and struggles. The family wishes to thank Dr. Halldorson for her care of Lorette over the years. We also thank the team of doctors, nurses and all staff at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit for the incredible, loving and kind care she received during her final month.
