Loretta Anne Ballantyne, “Kīwītinōhk-Okāwīmāw” Mother of the North, was born on October 21, 1961, in Flin Flon, MB, and passed away on October 8, 2024, in Prince Albert, SK, at the age of 62 years.

Loretta is survived by her loving family, her husband, Roy Ballantyne; her children, Carmelita Ballantyne, Carol-Ann (Kenny), Damon, Dyalan, Cona Ballantyne, Jonathan Ratt, Givanna Ratt; her grandchildren, Chris Jr., Colby, Coby, Conroy Charles, Andie Ballantyne, Andrew, Andersen, Andrina Redhead, Dru-Ann Bloomfield, Daniel Ballantyne, Dami-Ann, Damian and Aleah (Mimi) Ballantyne, Dream Ballantyne, Vivian Ratt Custer, Jonathon Custer Ratt, Timara Ratt, Norma Michelle, Zachery and Alayna Sewap, Sky, Alyse, and Tyler Custer; her great-grandchildren, Cherish Lee, Isaac, Kaleaya, Eliza, JJ & Tia Charles, Azeala Waitika; her best friend, Joyce McKenzie; her special friend, Lucy Antsanan; her brothers, Michael (Lorna) Custer, Steven (Karen) Custer; her sisters, Rita Custer, Julianne Custer, Marina, Mardell, Celina Michel (née Custer); her special cousins, Rose Marie Harvie, Dawn; her aunts, Veronica Ballantyne, Margaret Ballantyne; her special nieces, Andrea (Randy) Clarke, Tiffanie Sewap; her in-laws, Larry Sewap, Paul (Christine) Ballantyne, Liza Ballantyne, Doreen Naytowhow, Alice Sewap, Virginia Ballantyne, Clara Linklater, Maggie Halcrow, Bobby (Lorna) McCallum, Willis McCallum, Suzette Jobb, Doreen Naytowhow; numerous cousins; numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own children.

She was predeceased by her children, Dennis, Damian, Drew (MMIWM), Christopher (in infancy); her grandson, Christian Charles; her infant grandchildren, Charis & Christa Charles, Daevin Ballantyne, Cherish Custer; her brother, Darrell Joseph Custer; her siblings in infancy, Mark Lloyd Custer, Shirley Ann Custer; her parents, Andrew C. & Sophia Custer; her in-laws, Eliza & Athannas McCallum; her grandparents, David & Louisa (née McDonald) Ballantyne, Joseph Custer & Mary Custer; her aunties, Mary (Henry) Custer, Henrietta Linklater, Florence McKay, Elizabeth Sewap, Angelique Ray, Cecilia Ballantyne; her uncles, Henry Custer, Fred Ballantyne, Steve Ballantyne; her nieces & nephews, Camella Ballantyne, Chantal Custer, Kerra Dorion, Norman Custer, Micheal & Brenda Custer, Jean Canada.

The Prayer Service for Loretta will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at River Park Funeral Home, in Prince Albert, SK. The Wake Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday October 12, 2024, at Parkland Hall, in Prince Albert, SK; continued on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Pelican Narrows Band Hall. The Pipe Ceremony will be held at 7:00 a.m., on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Pelican Narrows Band Hall, with the Funeral Service to follow, with Madonna Ballantyne and Gordon Ratt officiating.
