Lois Annette Longlitz
LONGLITZ, Lois Annette, late of Prince Albert, left her earthly home at the Herb Bassett Care Facility in Prince Albert, early in the morning of April 10, 2012 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Unity, Saskatchewan in 1923, the 5th child of the 7 children of George and Zula Postlethwaite. Her parents, as well as siblings Max, Ted, Lorna, Helen and Bill have gone before her, leaving Joyce the only remaining sibling. Lois married her friend Vic in 1942 and they raised a family of four, Karin, Dale, Trudy and Robby. They farmed in the Unity area for almost 20 years where Lois was involved in every facet of farming life, from gardening and sewing kids clothes to driving a grain truck. Later they moved to the Matador Coop Farm in the Kyle District to farm in a different manner. After several years there, with only Robby left to nurture, they made their home in Saskatoon where they both became employed and citified. At about age forty-nine, Lois decided to go back to school and took a Certified Nursing Assistants Course. As a new recruit, she secured four years of employment as a licensed practical nurse in the St. Paul’s Hospital Kidney Room, before they moved to Prince Albert to be Raider fans and help Robby in construction. Karin and her family were Prince Albert citizens at this time and Lois enjoyed her role as a grandma to Karin’s three children. Together with Dale and Robby, Lois and Vic became Logwood Industries and lived in the log house on the Shellbrook highway. After a time, Dale left to work for the Federal Government between Ottawa and NWT. Lois and Vic continued to help Robby until Vic was called up yonder in 1992, at which time Lois moved to Northcote Manor and became involved in the activities of a high risers. She suffered a broken hip in 2009 which precipitated her move to the Herb Bassett, where she was royally treated by the caring and capable staff of this facility until her passing. Lois enjoyed the love and support of her four children until her leaving…a full and eventful life to be celebrated.
