Linda Fay Strand passed away on June 15th, 2012 at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, with her family and friends by her side. She was 66 years old. Linda was born on December 12, 1945 after her twin brother was born just before midnight on December 11, 1945. She was born and raised in the Birch Hills area. Linda attended grades one to eight in a little one room school called Lake Park School. She graduated from Birch Hills High School and attended a couple of years of university. Then Linda moved to La Ronge where she spent some of the best years of her life. She had wonderful experiences and made a number of wonderful lifelong friends. While working at the hospital, she obtained a Medical Records Technician Course and worked as such until 1977 when she started work as a Court Clerk with the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan in La Ronge. Linda used to think that it was romantic to say “when other people are getting on a bus to go to work, I get on an airplane.” In 1980, flying got to be not so romantic for Linda so she transferred to Prince Albert where she retired some 30 years later. Linda loved to visit historical places. She went with a friend on a Mediterranean cruise. She saw Ephesus, Pompeii, the pyramids and a lot of other sights. She and another friend went up the Alaska Highway and enjoyed the grandeur of all the mountains and lakes. Later on, she and her daughter Dana took many trips to B.C. and the Yukon. They also made several trips to the States to see the sights and visit with family. Linda was a good friend who could keep a secret. She loved to dance and have a good time. She had a good sense of humour. Linda enjoyed curling and bowling. Her pastimes were spent either reading or crocheting. Linda was predeceased by her parents Harry and Gladys (Hoverson) Strand, her paternal grandparents Hover and Mary (Cline) Hoverson, her paternal grandparents Henry and Helga (Grund) Strand. She was also predeceased by several aunts, uncles, cousins and some very good friends. Linda is survived by her loving daughter Dana, her two brothers, Larry and Betty Lou (Ravndahl) Strand of rural Birch Hills, Saskatchewan, and Kelly and Louise (Duval) Strand of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Funeral Services are being held at the Lake Park Baptist Church 3 mile North of Birch Hills on highway #3. Interment to follow at Winton Cemetery, Birch Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Prince Albert SPCA. Funeral arrangements are being entrusted to Northern Funeral Service, MacKenzie Chapel.
