Leslie Thyne Miller
(January 25, 1929 – July 27, 2011)
Leslie was born on January 25, 1929 in Shellbrook, SK and passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2011 in the loving arms of his wife Barbara and surrounded by family.
He started driving heavy equipment at 14 years of age, logging in BC and then worked at Prince Albert National Park and Weyerhaeuser. Leslie had a love for animals, especially horses. As a young man he farmed with horses and continued this passion of harnessing his ponies and going for a ride until just weeks ago. He enjoyed old time dancing, playing cards, fishing, attending auctions and curling. This past winter he took up the sport of bowling. Leslie’s life revolved around people, and he was so proud to attend his children's and grandchildren’s many activities. He instilled the true meaning of family in all he did. Leslie was a life member of the Prince Albert Exhibition Association. He was involved with the building of the Spruce Home Trail Riders Arena and continued his volunteer support over the years.
Leslie is survived by his loving wife Barbara of 53 years; his children Audrey (Kelly) Kaufmann, Ida (Peter) Surkan, and Derrick (Lisa) Miller; his grandchildren Shannon (Kevin) Young, Wendy (Ryan) Busse, Evan, Alanna (Ian Farthing), Megan (Scott), Jason, Mary (Blake), Connor, Christopher (Alyssa) and Daniel (Jessica); his great grandchildren Dylan, Aylish, and Lane; his sister Delores Dow; Barb's family Ella (Walter), Bev (Shelia), Muriel (Steve), Howard (Claire), Leona, Richard (Brenda); and many nieces and nephews. Leslie always had time for family, countless friends and neighbours.
He was predeceased by his parents Tony and Lottie; his sister Donna Villeneuve; his brothers Wilfred and Wesley; his sister-in-law Violet Miller; his parents-in-law Landon and Pearl Read; and his brother-in-law Wilfred Read.
The family of Leslie would like to send a Thank You to Dr. Gordon Surkan, Dr. Randy Friesen, Dr. Renee Kennedy, Dr. John Shaw, his nurses at Victoria Hospital Ambulatory Care, RUH and palliative home care.
