Leslie Thomas Boyle
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Leslie announce his passing. He was born October 29, 1929, in Prince Albert, SK, the only son of Thomas A. and Joyce Boyle (nee Ridler). He was raised on the family farm north of Canwood with his two younger sisters Grace and Lietta.
Les received his education in a one-room schoolhouse at Moose Valley. When he finished school, he farmed with his Dad and acquired land of his own at an early age. In the winters he worked in B.C. logging in the mountains. He had many harrowing tales of his adventures there!
When he married Tena Unrau, he built a home and second-yard site on the family farm and raised 4 children. A few years later he bought out his Dad and expanded his farm. He especially enjoyed raising cattle and spending time in the bush on his land. During this time, he also drove a school bus and did some carpentry work.
The community was very important to him. Over the years he served on many boards and committees. He was actively involved, often volunteering his time and talents, on many community projects. He also spent countless hours helping out at the rink, ball diamonds, and 4-H events for his children’s activities.
Sandra came into his life in 1975 and they were later married. They had many enjoyable years farming together, spending time with family and friends, and working in the community. They also enjoyed their large yard and garden, berry picking, and playing cards. Many benefitted from the garden produce that they freely shared with others.
His faith was very important to him and he was very active in the Anglican Church. He strongly believed in helping others and was well known for his kindness and ability to see the good in everyone.
He passed away peacefully in his home on his farm near Canwood surrounded by family on February 23, 2021, at the age of 91 years.
He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife, Sandra; his children Mervin (Char), Cindy (Neil), Sheryl (Mik), and Brad; his grandchildren, Julia and Jaxx; his sisters Lietta Adrian and Grace Bartzen; his mother-in-law Marian Campbell; brother-in-law Bill (Brenda); his sisters-in-law Irene (Ken), Doris (Reg), Dian, Mary (Bill) and Bev, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many close family friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas A. and Joyce Boyle; his brothers-in-law Art Adrian and Len Bartzen; and his sister-in-law, Linda Campbell. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, the family will have a private graveside service held for Leslie in the Canwood North Cemetery.
