It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leona Agnes Fiddler on July 27, 2025 at Saskatoon City Hospital at the age of 93 years. Leona was born on June 25, 1932, in Titanic, Saskatchewan, to Gaspard and Rosina (Slater) Arcand. At the age of 16, Leona moved to Saskatoon, where she began her working life cleaning for Federated Co-op and taking on various sewing jobs. She later found her calling in the laundry department at Sunnyside Nursing Home, where she dedicated 26 years of service before retiring at the age of 65. Leona was a woman of many passions, but none shone brighter than her profound love for her children, grandchildren, and her entire family. She found immense joy tending to her yard, creating beautiful pieces through cross-stitch and other crafts, and baking delicious treats, often sharing them with her loved ones. She especially cherished having sleepovers with her grandchildren and absolutely adored being a grandma, creating lasting memories with each one. Leona was fiercely independent, remaining in her own home until the age of 92, a testament to her resilient spirit. She was a wonderful host who loved to visit and catch up with loved ones, always eager for a good conversation and cherishing the connections she made. Her love for country music was well-known, and she enjoyed attending concerts with her family and friends. A highlight of her summers was the annual picnic mass at the grotto in Titanic, a cherished tradition that brought her immense happiness and a chance to connect with her roots and community. Leona will be deeply missed by her children, Lavern Fiddler, Dwayne (Donna) Fiddler and Wanda Fiddler (Drew Maclean) and daughter-in-law Nancy Fiddler. She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Felix (Mary) Arcand and sister Denise (Lyle) Leuschen, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were all touched by her kindness and warmth. Leona was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lionel Fiddler, her son, Blair Fiddler, and her siblings Adrian (Cecilia) Arcand, Theresa (Joseph) Kuppenbender, Leo Arcand, Rosaire Arcand, Joseph (Rita) Arcand, Emile Arcand, and Lillian (Don) Lindsay.
