Leon Gerard Blais, at the age of 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 12, 2020.

Leon was born on January 1, 1950 to Lionel and Yvette Blais and grew up on the family farm near Debden, Saskatchewan.

After graduating high school in 1968, Leon moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan where he worked as a city and school bus driver. While driving school bus in Prince Albert, Leon found the love of his life Pauline.

In 1969, at an early age, Leon left Prince Albert to find work in Pine Point, NWT working at Cominco while his sweetheart was still in Prince Albert. It wasn’t long after, Leon realized that he could not live without the one he left behind and in 1970, Leon married the love of his life Pauline and raised two boys (Pierre and Mich).

Leon loved to listen and play music, specifically the organ and accordion; often playing at family functions where we would all sing along to old time classics. Leon’s music was an inspiration to many which led to the creation of “The Alley Cats Band” led by Leon playing the organ, wife Pauline as lead singer, and friends playing the drums and guitar.

In 1983, Leon moved his family to Saskatoon and worked in Key Lake, Saskatchewan as an Operations Trainer. In December of 1989, Leon found an exciting opportunity in Fort McMurray, Alberta and worked at Carbovan as a plant operator. In 1993, Leon made his last employment move to Edmonton, Alberta and worked at the University of Alberta Hospital as a 4^th class power engineer.

Throughout his journey Leon loved to explore the world with his wife and visited all of Canada, Hawaii, Dominican Republic, Mexico, France, Cuba and numerous states within the USA.

In 2009, Leon happily retired with Pauline and returned to Emma Lake, Saskatchewan where they built their forever home. Leon opened his arms to his entire family and hosted several family events and loved watching his grandchildren play cards, outdoor activities and sports on the water of Emma Lake.

In 2009, Leon found his second paradise home in El Centro, California at SunBeam RV Park. It was here where he made numerous close friends who all became his second family. Leon loved the sun, playing shuffleboard and his favourite game “Pool Volleyball”. Leon established a recycling program at his paradise home for the entire RV Park in an effort to clean the environment.

Left to celebrate Leon’s life is his loving wife Pauline; his children: Pierre (Monica) Blais and Mich (Mabel) Blais; his grandchildren: Chance Blais, Cole Blais, Brooke Blais, Kianna Blais and Stephan Tourangeau; his siblings: Marie (Ellice) Mamchur, Claude (Marilyn) Blais, Roseanne (Ron) Kielo, Rosaire (Evelyn) Blais, Marc (Dianne) Blais, Ghislaine (Bernard) Painchaud; his mother-in-law Alice Georget; his siblings-in-law: Jean (Zeke) Rabiej, Shirley Larocque, Mark (Brenda) Georget, Jim (Tracy) Georget, Dale (Terry) Georget, Larry (Jackie) Georget and Vivian (Kim) Issel; and numerous nephews, nieces, extended relatives and many friends.

He was predeceased by his loving parents Lionel and Yvette Blais; his brother Remi Blais; his sisters Claire and Estelle Blais; his father-in-law Roger Georget; and his brother-in-law Claude Larocque.

A Private Family service will be held.
