Lena Mudrey

MUDREY, Lena – With great sadness we announce the passing of Lena, age 92, at Rosthern Hospital on April 8, 2012 (formerly a resident at Lakeview Pioneer Lodge). Lena was born on January 11, 1920 at St. Julien, SK and received her education at Kolymaya School. She married Bill Mudrey in October of 1948. During her farm years (area of Crystal Springs) Mom enjoyed her hobbies – making her prize donuts, perogies and especially raising chickens plus all other activities that come with farm life and of course the company of her good neighbours. Upon retirement Mom and Dad moved to a home they had built in Wakaw where they resided until Dad passed away June 18, 1991. Shortly after Mom moved to the Millsite until her physical health deteriorated and she had to move into the nursing home in the summer of 2011. Mom had a phenomenal memory – God bless her – we will miss her. Lena is survived by her daughter, Patricia Bouchard of Wakaw, SK and son, Dennis of Moose Jaw, SK; her grandchildren, Kelsey (Terry) Bouchard and their children, Tyler and Scott; Shawna (Carlos) Torres and their children, Roberto and Miguel; and Cory Bouchard; special family friend, Lynda Kerekes whom she referred to as her second daughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband: William (1991); parents, Dmytro (1964) and Wasylyna (1963) Lazorko; sister, Dora (Alex) Oleksyn; step-sisters, Mary (Prokop) Kindrachuk, Paraska (Nikola) Bodnarchuk and Sopha (George) Michayluk; and step-brother: Fred Werezak. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Wakaw, SK. Arrangements entrusted to Hawryluk Funeral Home. 922.6611.
