Feb. 7, 1925 – July 18, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Lawrence Gordon Tyerman. He passed peacefully at his home in Veteran’s Village in Saskatoon with his family close by. Lawrence was born in Valparaiso, SK on the family farm, the third of 5 children. After school in Valparaiso, Dad spent 2 years serving as Gunnar in the army. He then spent some time helping on the family farm before moving to Ontario for work and then worked as a Porter with the Canadian Pacific Railroad . Returning to the Tisdale area, he married Alma Bernice Walker of Golburn, SK on June 18, 1952. They were blessed with 3 children (Sharon of Independence, Kansas, Barry of Olds, AB and Elaine of Saskatoon, SK), 6 grandchildren and 11 great grand children. After a career of more than 35 years with Bowman Bros/Acklands, Dad retired. He loved to golf, curl, cross country ski and putter in his garage, house, and yard. He loved to build and fix things. He always said that “on a scale from 1-10, golf was an 11”. He also loved to travel and spend time with his family. Dad was a devoted caregiver to his wife Alma for many years, following her strokes at age 39. Dad lived in his home in Prince Albert for over 42 years and then moved to live with his family. In 2013 he moved to Bethany Pioneer Village in Middle Lake where he lived for 2 years before moving into the Veterans’ Village in Saskatoon. Dad will be laid to rest beside his wife Alma with a graveside service on Aug. 17 at 1:00 pm in Tisdale.
