Laurie Adele Smith
June 10, 1959 – Aug 10, 2019
Laurie was carried home by her father and grandparents after a courageous battle with cancer. Laurie was born in Prince Albert to Joe and Mae Smith. She was the 2nd oldest of 7 children. She attended St. Michaels School, Rivier Academy and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. Laurie had a great sense of humour. She had a great love of singing and music. She loved spending time with friends, of which she had many. She enjoyed playing ball in her younger years. Laurie was always ready to lend a helping hand, an ear or a shoulder to anyone in need. She was very protective and supportive of her family and friends. Family was very important to her, which could easily be seen in her love and devotion to her granddaughter Celia. Celia was the light of her life and she was extremely proud of her.
Laurie leaves to cherish her memory, her granddaughter Celia Munroe and daughter Cindy Munroe; her mother Mae Smith (Lucier); her brothers, Melvin (Deb), Kelly (Chris) and Don Smith; her sisters, Wendy Smith, Wanda (Ron) Anderson, Sandy (Mattie Ballantyne) Smith; her numerous nieces & nephews; her aunties Jeanette and Yvette; special uncle and aunt Floyd and Pearl Bear and numerous cousins; her special friends Audrey Badger, Faye Ahdemar, Lorraine Robillard, Tracy Black and Roland Bission and her fur baby Max.
Laurie was predeceased by her father Joe Smith, grandparents Max & Celia Lucier, Leon & Margurite Smith and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at St. Michaels Parish, 1505 13th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Father DJ Vu officiating.A luncheon will follow the Mass at St. Michaels Parish. Interment will be held at the St. Laurent Shrine Cemetery. Laurie’s family would like to thank Dr. Oleksinski and the 6th floor staff at the Victoria Hospital for the care and compassion that they offered Laurie.
