Knute Gjesdal

Knute Rodney Gjesdal passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, at the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert, surrounded by family.
Knute was born in Birch Hills, SK, on December 31, 1952. He attended school at Lake Park School and later in Birch Hills. At a young age, he started helping his dad on the farm both with harvest and taking care of the animals. After graduation he went to Saskatoon and took a Farm Machinery course. He returned to the farm to continue grain farming and opened his mechanic business, “The Universal Joint”, where he repaired many vehicles in the area.
In 1977, he married Melodie Arksey and together they welcomed 3 children, Colin, Scott and Kristi. He appreciated life on the farm and the variety of different jobs it brought for all the family to work together on. Knute had a strong Christian faith that he shared with his family and many others through Bible Studies and visiting.
Knute is predeceased by his parents, Selmer and Gladys Gjesdal; his father-in-law, Stan Arksey; and his brother-in-law, Bill Jordan. Knute leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Melodie; Colin (Bethany) Gjesdal, granddaughters Anja and Freya; Scott (Karla) Gjesdal, grandchildren Knute, Jakob and Kaja; Kristi (Ian) Stolee, grandchildren Adalynn, Joel, Karina and Elaina; his siblings, Janet (Wayne) Peckett, Karen Jordan, Steven (Joy) Gjesdal; his mother-in-law, Iris Arksey; his in-laws, Don (Karen) Arksey, Dennis (Darlene) Arksey, Bob (Dawn) Arksey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Rose Garden Hospice for the excellent care they provided for Knute in his last week of life.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Lake Park Baptist Church, Hwy 3 East, Birch Hills, SK. In memory of Knute, donations may be made to Brighter Horizons Ministries, Box 191, Rose Valley, SK S0E 1M0, or Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Park, 350 23 Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 1P7.
