Kenneth William McKay of Prince Albert, SK, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at the age of 64 years, after a short battle with cancer, with family at his side in the Victoria Hospital, in Prince Albert. He is survived by his parents, Bill & Shirley McKay of Prince Albert, SK; his son, Will (Trish) McKay and their three children, Courtney, Brittney & Amber, all of Tofield, AB; his son, Rob (Tracy) McKay of Edmonton, AB; his siblings, Wayne (Connie) McKay of Courtenay, BC, Shelley (Don) Parsons of Edmonton, AB, Joan (Len) Williams of Stony Plain, AB, and Hugh McKay of Nanoose Bay, BC; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Prince Albert, SK, the eldest of 5 children to Bill & Shirley McKay. He grew up in Prince Albert and later moved to Alberta, trucking in the oil patch around Whitecourt, AB, then moving to Vegreville, AB, where he worked for Alberta Government Telephones upgrading home telephone services from party lines to private line service. He also worked there as a cabinet maker, farm hand, and delivering gas well shacks around Alberta and Northwestern BC. He then moved to Rama, SK and worked as a farm hand before returning to Alberta to drive a picker truck. He retired in 2017 and split his time between Saskatchewan and Alberta, depending on the season. He enjoyed spending time with family at various lakes in Alberta, camping and fishing over the years, spending his time in photography, taking pictures of family and their time on the lake. He was a man of many talents and could build anything he set his mind to, whether it was made of wood or of metal. A private family service will occur at a later date.
