Katherine passed away peacefully Dec. 5th at the age of 94 in the Herb Bassett Home. She was predeceased by her husband, John, of 52 years in 1991. Left to cherish precious memories are: her five children Bohdan and Sylvia (Haylor) of Camrose, AB, Johanne and Robert (Isbister) of Duncan BC, Zenon and Jean (Lowe) of Prince Albert SK, Iris and Dick (Davison) of Lethbridge AB and Orest and Carol (Cawkwell) of Rossland BC; twelve grandchildren Todd (Rhonda), Jeff and Chris (Heidi); Kirby, Derek and Stephanie (Barclay); Nykol (Todd) and Scott (Monica); Kevin (Jennifer), Jennifer (Kevin); Alex (Justin), Kate (Jeff); nine great grandchildren: John and Brynn; Hugh; Ben, Kate and Jane; Ashton and Laine; Sophie and four sisters-in-law Anne Michalchuk, Anne Markowsky, Lolly Markowsky and Elsie Markowsky. She was predeceased by 9 sisters and brothers. Kay was born October 21, 1916 in the Sokal district; she took her early schooling at Sniatyn. The church was a place she got strength and conviction. Her love of music and the reading of scriptures enhanced her love and devotion to her family and friends. Mom loved collecting seeds, picking berries, picking mushrooms and transplanting flowers. We often wondered how that rose or clematis got there. Sorting out old photographs was a great past time for mom. Mom loved her family and kept them dear to her heart. Mostly though, mom was devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She showed with pride the new photographs of family from far away always keeping them in sight and arranging and rearranging. Mom, we will miss and love you forever, you have left us many life lessons. The family wants to thank the staff of Golden Hill, Herb Bassett Home for the wonderful care they gave Kay. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Wesley United Church, 65 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to Wesley United Church (a place where she gained strength), 65 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z8. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Marianne Turcotte, Funeral Director.
