Kathleen Lomax
September 27, 1932 – August 5, 2019
Kathleen was born and raised in the city of Birmingham, England. She was 8 years old when World War Two broke out. During this time Kathleen and her family were constantly bombed by the Nazi’s, Kathleen was sent to the safety of the English countryside. Kathleen often talked of this period as it was a traumatic time in her life.
At age 24, Kathleen met her future husband Peter and in 1957, only days after their marriage they emigrated to Canada. After the birth of Kathleen’s son John in Ontario, Kathleen and husband Peter moved back to the U.K. and then on to the Bahama Islands. After a short while in the Bahamas, Kathleen and Peter moved back to Canada and resided in Winnipeg before moving to Saskatoon.
After a few years in Saskatoon, Kathleen and husband Peter moved to Big River upon purchasing Poplar Point Resort on Cowan Lake. A decade later they sold Poplar Point Resort and moved to a farm north of Big River, next to Cowan Lake. Kathleen taught Christian Ethics at T.D. Michel School for several years, was involved with the Big River Anglican Church and enjoyed her time in Big River. Kathleen Lomax passed away peacefully as she wished, in her home in the presence of her son and loving grandchildren.
Kathleen is survived by her only son John, and her four grandchildren Jarvis, Robert, John Jr. and Victoria. She is predeceased by her late husband Peter Lomax (1935-2002), and her parents Ida and Edwin Lambert of Birmingham England.
