Karl passed away peacefully on March 4, 2022, with his family by his side.

Karl was born on June 7, 1942, on the farm in the Tiger Hill District to Ingvald and Martha Fossen. In his younger years, he stayed at home with his mum and dad helping on the farm. Once Karl started working, he worked for Skaar Construction and Caribou Construction in Alberta. Karl married Betty Ann Newton and decided working away from home wasn’t much fun anymore. That is when he purchased a stone picker and went picking stones. During his time of picking stones, he met many new friends which he enjoyed.

Karl’s patience to work with cattle formed an easy partnering with Les Skaar in a business known as “Deep Valley Cattle” Once Karl retired, he enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, and his mini hobby farm. Karl will continue to be part of many great stories.

Karl is survived by his wife Betty Ann; his children Robert (Robin), Duane, Leslie, and Valerie; his grandchildren Kaitlyn (Brock), Tyler (Samantha), Jailynn, Tyson, Madison, and Karlie; his brother Maynard (Fran); his sister Carol Scobey. Karl also had a very special bond with all his nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Karl is predeceased by his parents Ingvald and Martha Fossen; his parents-in-law Verna Newton, Archie, and Amber Newton; his son Clayton; his granddaughters Jamie and Sydney; his brother-in-law Don Scobey; siblings-in-law Leona (Ed) Bair and Helen (Howard) Johnstone.

The family would like to thank the nurses at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert for the care and support they received at this difficult time. A memorial for Karl will be held on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 at 2 PM at the Crystal Springs Hall.
