1938 – 2020
With heavy hearts, the family of Judy Cecilia Nelson announce her passing on September 28, 2020, at the age of 82 in Nelson, B.C. Judy was born on February 4, 1938 in Victoire, SK to Alice and Alex Beauchene.
Judy kept busy over the years with many volunteer jobs such as Captain of the Girl Guides in Vavenby. Judy was a well-known baseball player with the Vavenby Ladies Baseball Team and could play any position. She volunteered in Prince Albert with individuals having disabilities, and at the Native Woman’s Centre. Judy worked at the St. Louis Rehabilitation Centre also and in her spare time she also worked as a taxi driver. Judy was very proud of herself for graduating out of the pre-trade course in Prince Albert, SK, aswell.
Judy is lovingly survived by her children and grandchildren: Anne E. Nelson; Barbara L. Nelson and her children: Gabrielle, Zakary, Cody, and Dakohta Nelson; Douglas Nelson’s children: Raymond, and Lynelle Nelson, and Tamara Peepeetch; Deborah F. Nelson and her children: Joseph, Alex, and Ellie Cox; her great-grandchildren: Wilson Junior, Ethan, Royce, and London Seepengoose; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Judy was predeceased by, her parents: Alex and Alice Beauchene (nee: Netmaker); her siblings: Albert Beauchene, Jeremey Beauchene, and Edna Nelson; her children: Carl H. Nelson, Helen M. Nelson, Elaine R. Nelson, and Douglas J. Nelson; and a granddaughter: Delrae Nelson.
Judy will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her and shared in her life’s journey.

Judy’s Wake and Funeral Service will take place on Ahtahkakoop First Nation with Rev. Burton Ahenakew officiating the services. Judy will be laid to rest in the St. Mark’s Anglican Cemetery.
