JUDY DIANNE COURTEAU (nee Michalchuk)
After displaying immense strength battling kidney and heart failure, beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend, Judy Diane Courteau peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, February 6, 2012 in the Intensive Care Unit at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK at the age of 59 years. She was an incredibly courageous and empathetic woman who put the happiness of her husband and sons ahead of her own while doing anything she could to help everyone else around her. Judy will forever be remembered and cherished by her loving husband of 28 years, Roland; her son Dwight; her mom Ann Michalchuk and her brother Allen (Michelle) Michalchuk. She also will be sadly missed by Roland's four sisters Diane (Ernie) Labiuk, Georgette (Alphonse) Fahl, Lorraine (Bob) Williams and Marilyn Courteau; her nephews Trevor (Eka) Michalchuk, Aaron (Jessica) Michalchuk, Shaun and Ryan Labiuk and her niece Kara Labiuk as well as other very close friends and extended family members. Judy was predeceased by her son Leland Courteau; her father Stephen Michalchuk and her parents-in-law Peter and Simone Courteau. Judy grew up on a farm outside of Bellevue, SK where she helped her parents and brother tend to the animals and harvest their crops. She later moved to Prince Albert with her parents where she worked in the retail industry and volunteered as a candy striper. While continuing her work in retail and the restaurant business, Judy often volunteered at her sons' elementary school where she helped with various sales and the supervision of the students during lunch hour. Five years ago, she was diagnosed with high blood pressure and later developed heart, kidney and lung failure. She bravely battled her illness and exuded great determination to be healthy again in 2010 and successfully pulled through 5 months later. For the next nine months, Judy displayed a great finesse for life in the company of her family but sadly succumbed to kidney failure in her final days with us. Mom, we love you and you will always be in our hearts. You are the sunshine in the darkest of days and a guiding hand in my time of need. I am proud to call you my mother. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13 at River Park Memorial Chapel with Mrs. Margaret Ferchuk officiating. Interment will be held in the Garden of Sermon on the Mount, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may send email condolences to www.riverparkfuneral.ca.
