It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Joyce Stephanie Chaharyn, late of Tisdale, SK formerly of Prince Albert, SK, on October 1st, 2026, at the age of 69 years.
Joyce lived in Prince Albert most of her life. She attended St Anne School for grades 1-6, Then Notre Dame for grades 7 & 8, and then Joyce lived in Waskesiu from 1972-1975 and then caught the bus to Prince Albert from Waskesiu daily, to attend Riverside Collegiate for grades 9-12, where Joyce then graduated. Following school Joyce delivered messages for Sasktel in Waskesiu, SK. As only the Prince Albert National Parks administration, businesses, and park residents had phones.
In Waskesiu Joyce worked at Traegers Bakery, and in the summer 1975 she worked at Louis Riel night club and in the fall of 1975, we moved back to Prince Albert, SK.
In 1976, during the summer months Joyce worked at McIntosh Point grocery store & the dance hall concession during the weekend dances. In the fall & winter of 1976 she worked as cashier at the Penn nightclub. In 1978 &1979 she worked at Point Optical, cutting out lenses & assembled glasses.
After the death of her mother Noreen, Joyce started to become sick & eventually moved to Regina where Janice took care of her. When Janice moved back to Prince Albert, Joyce followed. Since Regina, Joyce had been in several group homes. Glen Uy was also very good to her when she was under his care.
Joyce just prior to her passing found out she had cancer & an infection in her lungs. She developed a blood clot only a few hours before passing… She went peacefully.
Joyce had a hard life & always kept her spirits up. Janice & Joyce had been each other’s *Lifeline* all their lives. They had a knack of communicating without saying anything at all… Joyce was one half + Janice the other, making both one whole person.
A Funeral will be held for Joyce on October 9th, 2026, at 1 PM at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, followed with interment to follow at South Hill Cemetery. This obituary is protected against unauthorized reproduction or redistribution without the funeral homes or family’s consent. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Funeral Chapel & Crematorium.
