Josephine Therese McKenzie was born June 1, 1924, in Beaver Lake, SK. She peacefully passed away May 31, 2023, at Pineview Lodge in Nipawin.
She moved to Cumberland House where she married her husband, William J. Carriere, on December 24, 1941. After the end of War World II, they shared a loving life together for a span of 57 years. Together they raised their five children. Josephine was a hard working and devoted mother. Her greatest happiness was watching dog racers and canoe races. Everyone can remember her cheering from some river shore. Her devotion to God was always evident. Her greatest wish was all her children walked in forgiveness and love.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, William J. Carriere; parents, Dougal McKenzie, Virginia McKenzie, Christina Custer-McKenzie; sisters, Mary McKenzie, Margaret McAuley, Elizabeth McKenzie, Lily McKenzie, Kate Dubinack, Ethel Nabess and Agnus Carriere; brothers, Bill McKenzie, Rod McKenzie, John McKenzie, Norman McKenzie, Angus McKenzie, Donald McKenzie, Murdoch McKenzie and Simeon Bloomfield; her daughters, Jeannine Carriere and Donna Carriere; grandchildren, Deborah McAuley, William McAuley, Randy McAuley; great-grandchildren, Tandy McKay, Bill Laliberty, Akira Laliberty.
She is survived by her children, Murdoch (Terry), Darlene Sahyes (Late Pat), Pauline McKay, Solomon (Renee), Delores Laliberty (Eric); her special children, Dale McAuley, Ordean Goulet, Sandra Kingfisher, Horace Morin, Sheila Settee, Gwenda Young, Florence McAuley; grandchildren, Solomon McAuley, Mabel Sahyes and Trini Morin, Jennifer and Angus Sewap, Amy Carriere and her children, Lilly and Owen, Dana and Adrian Waskewitch, Corwin and Jeanine, Danny, Claude, Cher, Genevieve, Real and Laurie Carriere and their children, Solomon and Isabel, Michela and Leo Claret, Martina and Jessy Manly, Crystal and Duane Carriere and their children, Donna, Demi, Diana, Duane Jr., and Dominic, Terry and Mark Damato and their children, Thomas, Francis, and Martin, Eric Jr and Annette Laliberty and their children, Antoine, Dart and Romeo; and her numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Josephine Carriere was a loving wife, mother, sister, auntie, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother.
The Prayer Service for Josephine will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Sunday, June 5, 2023, at River Park Funeral Home, in Prince Albert, SK, with Veronica Favel officiating. The Wake Services will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2023, and Monday, June 5, 2023, at the Veteran’s Hall, in Cumberland House, SK. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Veteran’s Hall, in Cumberland House, SK, with Fr. Kendrick Beler officiating.
