Dad was born March 12th, 1923, 88 years ago in Wierzawice Poland. He married mom (Maria) on June 29th, 1946, 65 years ago. He had a hard life in Poland, and during the war was in the underground army, and a prisoner of war. Dad immigrated to Canada on December 17th, 1959, at age 36, to join his wife Maria and 2 children in Lenvale. They moved into Melfort where Joe ran his construction company, where his son eventually took over the family business. They moved to Campbell River BC 18 years ago where dad built his dream home close to the ocean.
Dad was very happy in Canada, and worked hard as a carpenter. He loved his family, friends, fishing, hunting and sharing his homemade wine with company. Mom and dad helped many family's that emigrated from Poland and got them settled in their new country. They brought them into their home and treated them like family.
They were blessed with 4 children; Kaz (Ania), Halina (John), Andy (Patti), Mark (Lori), 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He left behind his sister and family in Poland.
Prayers were held on Sunday, August 7th, at 6:00 pm from St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church where a funeral mass was held on Monday, August 8th, at 10:00 am followed by burial at Elk Falls Cementary.
