With heavy hearts, yet comfort, the family of Joseph Henri Doderai announce his peaceful passing on October 9, 2023 at Duck Lake, Saskatchewan. Joseph was born in the St Louis area September 7, 1933 to Henri and Marie (Cochet) Doderai. He received his elementary education at the convent in St. Louis. He grew up with his siblings Therese, Marie, Felix, Jacques and Henriette. Life on the farm was difficult and a set of work ethics was developed at an early age. Joe farmed with his family. He especially loved the smell of freshly tilled soil and rewards of a bountiful harvest. Joe was truly a farmer. He lived a life of simplicity and humility and never needed anything fancy. His great sense of humour carried him through life until his passing. In his younger years he enjoyed scrabble and triple Yahtzee. He especially enjoyed his many trips to Birch Hills for coffee row. Sometimes up to three times a day. Joe was forward in his decisions and yes was yes and no was no. You always knew when it was no. He was a man of his word. At times he appeared a little strict or rigid but in the end you always knew he had a gentle, giving heart. Joe enjoyed his retirement and continued to live on the farm until he was faced with health issues. He then moved to Prince Albert into private care homes. With deteriorating health and requiring further care, he became a resident of Goodwill Manor in Duck Lake. The family wish to thank the nursing staff for their support and kindness shown to Joe during his stay . Left to mourn his passing is his sister Marie (Joe Ethier), his sister-in-law Helen Doderai and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held October 17 2023 at 11:00 am at the St Louis Roman Catholic Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Phong Tran officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service Wakaw SK, 306-233-4403.
