Joseph “Glen” Denham
1944 ~ 2024
Joseph “Glen” Denham was born on April 29, 1944, near Leross, SK, and passed away with his family by his side on November 28, 2024, in Prince Albert, SK, at the age of 80 years.
Glen was born as the second child to Mabel and Kenneth Denham. Glen started his working career at a young age with his ford tractor his dad bought him. Like his dad, he did all the odd jobs around town and worked for the RM of Kellross during the summer. While finishing high School, he started working for the Department of Highways. Here began his official working journey and began building his broad depth of good friends.
One of Glen’s jobs was driving the school bus. This daily rural journey led him to the introduction to his wife Patricia Mary Trefiak of the Leross District. While their first meeting was at the age of 12, they eventually were married on May 8, 1965, nine years later.
Glen and Pat resided in Regina, and in August 1965, Glen became employed with Avco Finance Co., again adding to his bench strength of close friends. Avco led Glen and Pat to Esterhazy, Moose Jaw and finally Prince Albert in 1971.
Before moving to Prince Albert, Glen and Pat’s daughter, Candace Michelle was born on November 16, 1969, in Moose Jaw. On May 24, 1973, Gregory Kenneth was born in Prince Albert.
Glen continued to manage for Avco until July of 1975, when he started Sky Line Home Center in 1978, he sold the business but continued to manage for the new owner until 1980. He then became employed as a salesman for Timberline Farm Equipment, selling grain dryers. After working for one year, Glen incorporated his own grain-dryer business called Timberline Grain Handling Systems in 1982. In 1984, Glen took on a partner and expanded to a short-line farm equipment dealership. The company was renamed Glen-Mor Grain Systems.
Glen visited farmyards throughout western Canada selling Grain Dryers and whatever other equipment he believed they needed. He loved selling and always made everyone feel good about parting with their money. With a big smile, Glen strived to be the best service-oriented company in the industry. Glen fixed more dryers over the phone from his boat on Candle Lake than most guys ever sold.
Glen was not formally educated as an electrician, engineer, economist, HR specialist, teacher, psychologist, accountant, physicist or politician. But he thrived in all of those domains throughout his successful and productive career and life. Glen was a welcoming, generous, funny, strong, hardworking, friendly guy who everyone enjoyed being around. And if you needed something fixed, he was your guy. He did not replace it, he used whatever parts he saved to fix it.
Glen was still actively engaged in multiple entrepreneurial work into his 80th year of life. He and Pat have travelled to numerous countries and provinces with their friends and family. Glen enjoyed his Pleasure-way van across Canada and in parking lot rinks across western Canada watching his grandchildren compete in multiple sports.
Candle Lake was home base for the family gatherings for the last 25 years. Coffee to start, bacon and eggs to get everyone going, then onto the lake with whoever needed to catch a nice northern pike. Evenings were for two handed vodkas and a fire to share stories around.
Glen was predeceased by his parents Mabel and Kenny; Parents-in-law, Minnie and Dick Trefiak, as well as brothers-in-law Norm, George, John and Dick. Glen is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Candace and husband Bryan Swystun. Their children Delaney, Shay and Bauer. Son Greg and wife Kristine and their children Ellyana and Mitchell. His four sister’s Marlene, Sandra, Elaine and Charlene and Families. And siblings-in-law Madeline, Harold (Elaine), Bill (Diane) and Thad (Marianne) and families.
Glen and Pat were nearing their 60th year of marriage in 2025. Glen was a loyal and loving husband who will be missed dearly by Pat, his family and his friends.
