Joseph Evarist Baudais
Joseph Evarist Baudais passed away peacefully on May 9th, 2012 at the Lakeview Pioneer Lodge in Wakaw, SK at the age of 93. He was born in Domremy on September 30th, 1918 to Pierre and Josephine (Roselinski) Baudais. He was raised in Domremy but made his home in Bellevue, SK with his wife, Laurette Gaudet. They married in 1950 and raised three children. He spent many years farming and working as a carpenter as well as helping out wherever he may be needed. His resourcefulness, adaptability and creativity made him a welcome addition to many projects including the construction of the Lakeview Pioneer Lodge where he spent his last years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, and working with his hands, remaining active into his mid-80s.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Rupert (Jusheng) and his girls Christina and Claudia of Regina; Gordon of Bellevue; Jennie (René Gaudet) and her children Natalie (Rene) Gareau and their children Cole, Aidan, Gavin and Reid of Prince Albert; Riley Baudais and his children Carson and Jenny of Saskatoon; and Josey Baudais of Sylvan Lake, AB. He will also be remembered by his siblings; Mary Nelson of Saskatoon, Albert Baudais and Edward (Elma) Baudais both of Edmonton, AB, Judy Ball of Lewiston, Idaho, and Frances (Bill) Myers of Thornton, Colorado; one brother in law Carl Ekholm of Brandon, MB, and sister in law Jane Baudais of Prince Albert, SK.
He was predeceased by his wife Laurette in 1972, his parents, his brother John, his sisters Pauline and Helen and numerous brothers in law and sisters in law.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Isidore Roman Catholic Church in Bellevue with Rev.Fr. Phong Tran as celebrant. A private committal service will take place at the St. Isidore Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Joe, may be directed to the Lakeview Pioneer Lodge. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service of Wakaw. 233-4403.
