Jonas Peter Halkett was born on Sunday, February 19, 1933, in Fish River, SK, and passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016, in La Ronge, SK, at the age of 83 years. Jonas is survived by his loving family, his sisters, Mary Sanderson and Victoria Mirasty, his nieces, Marie (Rene) Durocher, Annie (Gerrald) Neufeld, Muriam Beatty, Rose Hegland, Virginia Mirasty, Bella Venne (Ronnie McCallum), Irene Venne, Yvonne Mirasty, Angie Sanderson, Flora (Ron) Ratt, Joyce Misponas, Angie (Peter) Smith, Mary Ratt, Bella (Irwin) Hennie, Violet Forrest and Margaret (John) Natomagan, and his nephews, Stewart Mirasty (Nancy Ross), Walter Mirasty, Eugene (Marlene) Mirasty, Vance Mirasty, Lester Mirasty, Alex Mirasty, Ronnie (Doris) Misponas, Raymond (Caroline) Misponas, Stanley Misponas, Daniel (Nora) Ratt, Jacob Ratt, Zachus (Koula) Ratt, Dennis (Clara) Sanderson and Moses (Emily) Sanderson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Emily (nee Ratt) Halkett, his sisters and brothers, Rosie Ratt, Elizabeth Misponas, Wiliam Halkett, Noah Halkett, Flora Venne and James Halkett, and his special friends, James Roberts and Marie Sanky. A wake service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Kitsaki Hall in La Ronge, SK. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the All Saints Anglican Church in La Ronge, SK, Reverend Richard Custer officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Church Cemetery in La Ronge, SK.
