John “Jack” Sutton, late of Prince Albert, formerly of Saskatoon, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018. Jack will be remembered by his loving wife of 73 years: Hazel; his children: Mervyn (Marjorie) Sutton; Lynda Coppens; Bob (Twylla) Sutton; June (Jim) Chisholm; Maureen (Bill) Blake); his 11 grandchildren and 10 step- grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren and step- great grandchildren and great- great- grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jack was born to John and Alice Sutton in New Zealand on February 2, 1924. He grew up in Souris, Manitoba. Jack enlisted with the RCAF in 1943 and served in a Lancaster Bomber out of England. While there he met Hazel (nee Cooper) and they were married on December 9, 1944. Following the war, Jack became an Electrician and began his career working with the CNR in Transcona near Winnipeg, Manitoba. He transferred with the railroad to Biggar, Saskatchewan and eventually moved to Saskatoon working with the electrical firm Hickson and Morgan. In 1971 he moved to Prince Albert and worked at the Pulp Mill where he formally retired in 1989. Jack saw an opportunity to earn additional income by working up north on the DEW line for four years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed playing chess and holidaying with Hazel in Yuma, Arizona over the winter months. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Good Shepherd Villas for the compassionate care shown to their Dad. A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Prince Albert Alliance Church – 2777 6th Ave W, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Jack may be made to World Vision Canada – 1 World Drive, Mississauga, Ontario, L5T 2Y4 – or a charity of the donor’s choice.
