John Olexyn

John was born on August 30, 1922 in the Fish Creek District and passed away in Prince Albert, SK on April 3, 2011 at the age of 88. John enjoyed farming which enabled him to have his horses, cattle and machinery as he always enjoyed the outdoors. He spent 19 years working at the Pulp Mill. After retiring he spent his time at his “Ponderosa”. John loved getting his family together and spending time at BBQ’s, card playing and fishing. He is survived by his children Roy (Paulette) Olexyn, Kenneth Olexyn, Evie Usherwood, Carolyn (Ray) Toutant, Eileen (Jim) Antoshkiw, Gordie Olexyn, Wesley (Sheila) Olexyn and Maureen Beland; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sisters Anne Chrun, Rosella (Larry) Dokendorf and Elizabeth Khinnicki; his brother Peter ( Dianne) Olexyn; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. John was predeceased by his wife Esther; his son Kevin; his grandson Johnathan; his great granddaughter Reice; his parents George and Mary (nee Schewaga); his brother Joseph (Helen) Olexyn and his niece Sharon. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Margaret Ferchuk officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Mont St. Joseph Nursing Home, 777 – 28th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 8C2.
